The Plateau, an urban island in a recovered seebranchAbsatzFrom the south of homogeneous but varied spaces are organized through ways and bridges connecting the intern elements, as well as the surroundings.AbsatzThe western edge of the plateau is an urban quay (Alto Promenade), punctuated with pavillons (Kiosk, WC, maintenance 100m etc...) and wallsections.AbsatzThree small bridges accede directly to the Foyer of the Finlandia Hall. The shoreline of Alvar Alto's building has been modified into a moulded »natural« riverside that permits to stage the Hall in green wings and block the unpleasant direct outlook on the underground level.AbsatzIf necessary, the car parks can be replaced by an underground park house situated under the »squaregarden« and accessible from the redlined Alvar Aallon Street: The historical »artisticial« character of this terrain and its remaining as an introduced element into the landscape, make it appropriate to those technical functions.
